The Blue Lacy is a medium-sized working dog preferred by ranchers, cowboys, and hunters alike. They were initially bred for the daunting task of taking down feral hogs and were later used for hunting wild boar and herd cattle. With its trademark blue/grey coat and blazing amber-yellow eyes, the Blue Lacy is both an outstanding worker and an attractive dog to boot. Contrary to their name, the Blue Lacy can also be found in shades of cream, rust, or tri-colour patterns, although blue is the most common.
