Bouviers des Flandres are highly intelligent dogs. They are quick learners and excel in obedience training and various canine sports. Their intelligence also makes them versatile working dogs, capable of performing a variety of tasks. They were originally bred as herding dogs but have also been used for purposes such as guarding, police work, and search and rescue.
